Spring Seeding Watering Instructions
A Prestige seeding is the first step toward a beautiful lawn. Working together to achieve optimum conditions will help to achieve optimum results. Like any plant, grass has specific water needs. Maximum germination results when the soil is kept moist--not wet--throughout the day, for four weeks post-seeding. The following guidelines are suggested starting points based on expected weather and normal sun & soil conditions. The weather can deviate from the norm, properties vary and conditions can even vary throughout a property, so it is vital to monitor the soil frequently and to adjust the water as needed.
If the soil is dry, increase watering; if the ground is muddy, decrease it. Shady areas, smaller properties and slow-draining soil need less water. Rainfall decreases watering needs. If temps increase, you may need to increase water, but only if the soil is drying out. If you can't get it perfect (moist), lean toward the drier side; too much moisture will rot out grass and seed. Please reach out to us if you have any questions regarding water, as it's a vital factor in growing and maintaining a beautiful, healthy lawn.
Follow seed watering instructions for 4 weeks after the seeding. After that, we want the soil to have a chance to dry out between rainfalls/waterings. As always, continue to monitor the soil and adjust the water accordingly. If you are a client of Prestige, keep an eye out for individualized and broad text messages regarding watering updates.

WHAT TO EXPECT
If this is your first seeding and was done as a renovation or from dirt, you will start to see germination within 1-2 weeks. The blades will start out thin and will thicken over time.
Do your best to stay off the lawn (no heavy traffic) and do not cut it for 3-4 weeks. We hope to get the lawn 80% full with the first seeding. We are working with nature and some spots will be stubborn and require more attention.
During the extreme conditions of summer, a new lawn will be more vulnerable to seasonal struggles than an established lawn. This is normal and not something to be concerned about. As soon as the weather breaks, the lawn will begin to come around. The second seeding is to fill in any spotty or thin areas that did not fully take with the first seeding. You are in good hands and will have a great lawn after the two seedings and a full season.
